Built for the Mat ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our wrestling weight management application and website at www.builtforthemat.com (the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Locally

Built for the Mat stores all personal information locally on your device using browser localStorage. This includes:

• Name and athlete profile (age, weight, height, body fat percentage)
• Biological sex and menstrual cycle phase (optional, for female athletes)
• Wrestling style, weight class, and training schedule
• Competition schedule and target weights
• Daily weight log entries (morning and evening)
• Food and calorie log history
• Personal notes and goals

This data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. We do not have access to your personal health information.

Food Search Queries

When you use the food search feature, your search query is sent to our server and forwarded to the USDA FoodData Central API and Open Food Facts API to retrieve nutritional information. Search queries are not stored or logged beyond the duration of the request.

Server Logs

Our servers may log standard web server information including IP addresses, browser type, and pages accessed for security and operational purposes. These logs are not used for tracking or advertising.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the wrestling weight management features of the Service
• To calculate personalized calorie targets, macro recommendations, and supplement guidance
• To retrieve nutritional information for food search queries
• To maintain and improve the Service

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for advertising.

3. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Built for the Mat is designed for use by competitive wrestlers, including athletes under the age of 13 ("children"). Because all data is stored locally on the user's device and is not collected or transmitted to our servers, we do not collect personal information from children.

If you are a parent or guardian and your child uses this application, please be aware that:

• All data your child enters remains on their device only
• We recommend parents review and supervise their child's use of weight management tools
• Weight management for athletes under 18 should always involve physician and parental oversight
• The food search feature transmits search queries (not personal data) to retrieve nutritional information

4. Data Security

Since personal data is stored locally on your device, the security of your data depends primarily on your device's security settings. We recommend:

• Using a device passcode or biometric lock
• Keeping your device's operating system and browser updated
• Using the built-in Export feature to maintain backups of your data

Our servers use HTTPS encryption for all data transmission and implement standard security headers to protect against common web vulnerabilities.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is stored in your browser's localStorage and persists until you:

• Clear your browser data or localStorage through your device settings
• Delete the app from your home screen (on iOS)
• Use a different browser or device without importing your backup

We do not retain copies of your personal data on our servers and therefore cannot delete data on your behalf beyond clearing server logs.

6. Third-Party Services

The food search feature uses the following third-party APIs:

• USDA FoodData Central — operated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Your search query is transmitted to retrieve nutritional data. See the USDA Privacy Policy at usda.gov.
• Open Food Facts — an open-source food database. Search queries may be transmitted to retrieve additional food data. See openfoodfacts.org/privacy for their policy.

Google Fonts are loaded from Google's servers to display the Barlow Condensed typeface. This may result in your IP address being transmitted to Google's servers. See Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
